On Friday, the mayor of Fnideq, Sheikh Sameh Abdel Hai, pointed out that "more than 30 pine trees were cut down last night and prior, in the Al-Tawila area behind the waste dump, and sold to a sawmill on the coast." Abdel Hai stated in a statement that "public disclosure and a complaint will be filed before the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, and security forces have been informed of this, with a warning to sawmill owners against purchasing from traders, as the municipality will pursue them legally." It was reported that the army confiscated green pine wood at night, and the municipality will work to uncover those involved and refer them to the competent judiciary for prosecution.
