Title: Berri Meets Army Commander: We Exercise Our Legitimate Right to Self-Defense

Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri met with Army Commander General Joseph Aoun at the second presidential official residence in Ain el-Tineh to discuss the general situation and recent security and military developments. Berri also welcomed the Brazilian Ambassador to Lebanon, Tarcisio Costa, and they discussed the situation in Lebanon and the region in light of the escalating Israeli aggression against Gaza and Lebanon. Speaker Berri praised the role that Brazil is playing, especially that of President Lula da Silva, in efforts to halt Israeli aggression and support the rights of the Palestinian people, both in the UN Security Council and through participation in the Cairo Conference. Berri affirmed that Lebanon is "committed to international legitimacy and is exercising its legitimate right to defend itself against the Israeli aggression targeting Lebanon."
