Security sources announced that defensive systems shot down an armed drone today, Thursday, over Erbil Airport in northern Iraq, where U.S. and other international forces are stationed. Erbil Airport indicated that the drone was downed before reaching its target. However, the Counter-Terrorism Unit in Iraqi Kurdistan denied the incident, stating in a statement that no drone had been shot down. Two security sources confirmed that an armed drone was intercepted and downed around 7:10 PM local time, and an explosion was heard near the airport.
