The caretaker Prime Minister Najib Miqati confirmed that "there are attempts to convene the Security Council to issue a ceasefire resolution in Gaza, and the United Nations, which should be a refuge for the weak, is unable to make that decision." In an interview with "Al-Jadeed" channel, Miqati stated: "We have sensed rationality from 'Hezbollah', and the main goal is to maintain stability in Lebanon because everyone knows the difficult circumstances our country is going through." He added: "I am fully fulfilling my duty to protect Lebanon, and we are committed to Resolution 1701, and we are striving to prevent Lebanon from being dragged into war in collaboration with all parties." He further noted: "I have not received any guarantees from anyone regarding the developments, as circumstances are changing and Israel must stop provoking 'Hezbollah'." He emphasized that "the decision of peace and war is not in my hands nor in the hands of the government, but I am making efforts with all parties to avoid dragging Lebanon into war," expressing hope that "the fighting between 'Hezbollah' and Israel will cease, allowing this cloud to pass over Lebanon."
