Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán indicated today that "there is no agreement between Hungary and Turkey regarding the ratification of Sweden's request to join NATO, as it will be left to the Hungarian parliament to decide when to vote on it." Orbán stated: "There is not a significant willingness among the ruling party's deputies in Hungary to approve Sweden's request." He added: "There is no Hungarian-Turkish agreement" concerning Sweden's attempt to join NATO, clarifying that the approval "will only be determined by the Hungarian parliament... when its members decide that the time is right. They do not have a strong desire to make this decision." Sweden's application has stalled due to Turkey and Hungary's refusal to support it.
