A criminal court in Babil issued a death sentence on Tuesday to a man convicted of murdering his wife and three members of her family. The Supreme Judicial Council's media center reported that the convict admitted to killing his wife, her parents, and her brother in their home in the city of Hillah using a Kalashnikov rifle due to family disputes. The court sentenced him to death by hanging, based on the provisions of Article 406/1/a/z of the Penal Code.
