Iranian President to Visit Saudi Arabia Soon

Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi is expected to attend a summit in Riyadh on Sunday regarding the war between Israel and Hamas, according to a source familiar with the summit preparations who spoke to AFP on Monday. This will be Raisi's first visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia since Tehran and Riyadh agreed, under China's guidance, to resume relations and reopen diplomatic missions in both countries after a seven-year rupture. The summit is being organized by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, which consists of 57 majority-Muslim countries and is based in the Saudi coastal city of Jeddah. The summit is set to take place the day after an emergency summit for the leaders of Arab League states, also regarding the war between Israel and Hamas, in the Saudi capital. The source familiar with the preparations, who requested anonymity as they were not authorized to disclose details to the media, stated, "President Raisi will attend the Organization of Islamic Cooperation summit in Riyadh." The Organization of Islamic Cooperation has repeatedly condemned attacks on civilians in Gaza, where Israel is attempting to eliminate Hamas following an attack launched by the latter last month.
