MP Qassem Hashim stated that "there is no justification for the absence of the caretaker Foreign Minister Abdullah Bou Habib from the Security Council session that will discuss the renewal of UNIFIL," emphasizing the "importance of closely following the matter in New York." He warned of "the Israeli enemy's intention to promote new ideas for the primary operations of the peacekeeping forces."
In response to a question about the fate of French envoy Jean-Yves Le Drian's visit, Hashim confirmed in an interview with "Voice of Lebanon" that "all parties have remarks on the recent French message sent to several MPs," urging everyone to "overcome some formalities to reach the essence of the Elysee envoy's initiative, especially since we are in an abnormal situation."
He ruled out any "imminent breakthroughs in the presidential file due to the other team's lack of responsiveness to Le Drian's proposal, while awaiting the responses of the MPs to the French questions." Regarding internal efforts, he affirmed that "the bilateral dialogue between Hezbollah and the Free Patriotic Movement is ongoing within the framework of possible agreement," adding, "We are in favor of proposing and discussing administrative decentralization."
