Major Wall Street indexes opened higher in the second-to-last trading day of 2023, while the S&P 500 index hovers around its all-time high amid hopes for an early interest rate cut next year. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose five points, or 0.01 percent, at the open to 37,661.52 points. The S&P 500 opened up 4.86 points, or 0.10 percent, to 4,786.44 points. The Nasdaq Composite gained 42.92 points, or 0.28 percent, at the open to 15,142.10 points.
