The President of the Parliament whose membership has ended, Mohammed Al-Halbousi, confirmed this Thursday evening that he appeared before the judiciary for an investigation into the complaints filed against him, emphasizing that he will not leave Iraq. Al-Halbousi said in a press conference held in Baghdad, "Regarding the lawsuits and complaints filed against me, I announce in front of you my appearance before the judiciary, and I am obliged as a citizen and a political figure to uphold the law, and we have no choice but to appear before the judiciary." He added, "I pledge to appear before the judiciary for any complaint filed by any party, as we strive for our country to be a country of institutions where the law is the arbitrator," noting that "there are personal lawsuits filed against us." Al-Halbousi continued, "I will not leave Iraq, and I will comply with the judiciary at any time, and anyone who violates the law will be pursued."
