The Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba has informed Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan that it plans to invest two billion dollars in Turkey. Michael Evans, the president of the company, made these statements during a meeting with Erdoğan, according to a statement from the Turkish unit of the company. No timeline for the investment was provided. Evans noted that Alibaba has invested 1.4 billion dollars in Turkey through its unit Trendyol, one of the most popular e-commerce platforms in the country, as stated in the announcement. Trendyol, whose president also met with Erdoğan, indicated that Evans shared details about the new investments, such as establishing a data center and a logistics hub in Ankara, as well as an export operations center at Istanbul Airport. Erdoğan is visiting the United States to attend the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
