The Central Criminal Court in the Baghdad Rusafa Court of Appeals issued a life sentence today, Monday, against two convicted individuals for the crime of kidnapping citizens and extorting their families for money. The Supreme Judicial Council stated in a statement that "the gang was engaged in kidnapping citizens in the Al-Jadriya area, with the intent to release them in exchange for receiving ransom amounts." The statement added that "the ruling is based on the provisions of Article 4/1, and in accordance with Articles 2/1, 3, and 8 of Anti-Terrorism Law No. 13 of 2005."
