UK Holds Emergency Meeting on Local Impact of Israel-Palestine War

The British government will hold an "emergency meeting" today, Tuesday, to respond to the impact of the war between Israel and the Palestinians on community cohesion in Britain, amid concerns among ministers about pro-Palestinian protests planned for early next week coinciding with the day of truce. A spokesperson for Prime Minister Rishi Sunak stated, "The Deputy Prime Minister will chair a Cobra meeting (emergency response meeting) to coordinate the government's response to the situation in Israel and Gaza." He added, "A wide range of areas will be discussed, but it is clear that the focus is particularly on the impact of the 'terrorist attack' on Britain locally, and how we can address some of the importance related to community cohesion in particular."
