More than two thousand towns have plunged into darkness due to a severe snowstorm that swept through Ukraine. The Ukrainian Interior Ministry stated that "a total of 2019 towns in 16 regions were deprived of electricity." It added, "The storm caused chaos on the roads, forcing 1370 trucks to temporarily stop, while 840 vehicles were towed." In the southern city of Odessa, authorities reported that they had assisted 1624 people trapped due to the snow. Temperatures dropped below freezing, and strong winds were also recorded, according to the same source.
