The United Nations Security Council condemned the attack in Iran in a statement on Thursday, which resulted in the deaths of more than 100 people during the commemoration of the death of prominent Iranian Revolutionary Guards leader Qassem Soleimani, who was killed in a U.S. drone strike in 2020. The Security Council stated, "Council members emphasized the need to hold accountable the perpetrators, organizers, financiers, and sponsors of these heinous terrorist acts and bring them to justice." The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the explosions.
