Andreas Tinnenti, the official spokesperson for "UNIFIL," commented in an interview with "Voice of Lebanon" on the increasing discussions about the need to amend UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and establish a buffer zone. He stated, "The UN Security Council is the body that issued the resolution, so no discussions regarding its future can begin except through the Security Council and its member states." Tinnenti emphasized that "the pillars of Resolution 1701 remain in effect," reiterating that "the priority continues to be the prevention of escalation, the protection of civilian lives, and ensuring the safety of peacekeepers." In response to a question about the possibility of a trilateral meeting in Naqoura soon, he said, "There are currently no signs of upcoming meetings. However, the UNIFIL mission, led by General Aruldo Latharo, is actively participating in efforts to reduce tensions to avoid the risk of a wider conflict. All these efforts have been carried out through bilateral communications with both sides, without holding a trilateral meeting."
