Arabic Wikipedia Closes Its Site in Protest of the Gaza War

The Arabic Wikipedia announced the closure of its site for 24 hours, starting today, Sunday, in protest of the Gaza war. Arabic Wikipedia emphasized in a statement published on its website that it is "against everything happening in Gaza, both heart and soul, and that it will close starting today, Sunday, in solidarity with the Palestinian people." Arabic Wikipedia called for "an immediate end to the war and the establishment of a just and comprehensive peace." The Arabic version of Wikipedia was launched on July 9, 2003.
