Syrian artist Mona Wasef stated today, Friday, that she belongs to Iraq through her grandfather, who is of Iraqi origin and birth. She affirmed that her love for Iraqis is indescribable, noting that the land of the two rivers will always be great and majestic. Wasef explained to the Iraqi News Agency (INA) during her visit to Libya that "Iraq represents beauty, enjoyment, culture, and knowledge; it is my family, my home, and my people, and the birthplace and homeland of my ancestors who hail from Mosul, from an Iraqi Kurdish family." She added that she has visited Iraq several times, with her first visit in the mid-1970s and repeated visits up until recently, pointing out that "Baghdad is culture, and Iraq is the beautiful open book that will remain beautiful, cherished, and majestic throughout time."
