Title: Flight Cancellations and Evacuations as Volcano Erupts in Papua New Guinea

Some residents of a remote island in Papua New Guinea are preparing to evacuate the area around a volcano that has released a cloud of ash into the sky, leading to the cancellation of some flights. Clement Bili, a senior official in the disaster management agency, was quoted by the National Broadcasting Corporation as saying that teams have been sent to the Olowan Mountain area on New Britain Island to coordinate the evacuation process after the volcano began erupting on Monday. The broadcaster added that flights have been canceled from Hoskins Airport on the island, noting that the volcano continues to erupt. Papua New Guinea is located on the Pacific Ring of Fire, a horseshoe-shaped strip of volcanoes and fault lines surrounding the edges of the ocean.
