The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants expressed "relief and pleasure" at the European Union's decision, represented by Crisis Management Commissioner Janis Lenarcic, to allocate an additional amount of 15 million euros to assist the most needy among Lebanese and Syrian displaced persons, following his meeting with Minister Bou Habib yesterday. The Ministry thanked the European Commission in a statement for its "continued commitment to alleviating the suffering of the most impoverished social groups" and expressed hope for "continued dialogue and cooperation to reach sustainable solutions aimed at the safe and rapid return of Syrian displaced persons to their homes."
