Stray Dogs Attack Young Woman in Ehden

The young woman Rita Youssef Al-Daif, born in Zgharta in 1978, was attacked and bitten by stray dogs in the town of Ehden near the "Mist" hotel while she was out for a walk. She was subsequently taken to the government hospital in Tripoli after sustaining severe injuries to her face and body.

In response, the Zgharta – Ehden municipality issued a statement stating that "the expressions of condemnation regarding what happened to the young Zghartawi Rita Al-Daif, who was mauled by dogs to the point of being nearly devoured today in Ehden, are not sufficient." They sought the intercession of Our Lady of the Castle for Rita to recover fully before accusations are thrown around on social media. The municipality pointed out that they had previously lodged complaints with the relevant authorities twice against the individual (M. D.) who owns the dogs to deter him, as they believed that not every incident can be disregarded as safe.

The municipality also mentioned that they confiscated these dogs after receiving complaints regarding their repeated attacks on passersby. According to the statement, the municipality is pursuing the complaint to stop the owner of these dogs and to impose the necessary legal penalties against him.
