EU Ambassador Meets Salim: Committed to Supporting Lebanon

National Defense Minister in the caretaker government, Maurice Salim, met today, Wednesday, at his office in Yarzeh, with the new European Union Ambassador to Lebanon, Sandra Duval, and her accompanying delegation for a familiarization visit. During the meeting, they reviewed the general situation and discussed the relations between Lebanon and the European Union. Duval affirmed the EU's ongoing commitment to Lebanon and its people to put Lebanon on the path to recovery. She emphasized the continuous support for state institutions and the importance of implementing structural reforms that would help Lebanon regain international trust. They also discussed EU-funded projects, particularly regarding the integrated border management project. There was a consensus on the significance of controlling the borders for the benefit of all. For his part, Minister Salim praised the EU’s ongoing support for Lebanon, especially for the Lebanese Army, and stressed that it is more urgent than ever to address the Syrian displacement issue, which is the responsibility of the international community as a whole, and that everyone must work diligently to tackle this escalating crisis.
