Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblatt emphasized the necessity of continuous consultation during this critical phase, particularly with Speaker of the House Nabih Berri, "in an attempt to open avenues for the presidential entitlement." Following his meeting with Berri at the second presidency headquarters in Ain al-Tineh, Jumblatt stated that Saudi Ambassador Walid Bukhari confirmed to everyone during his tour that the Kingdom maintains an equal distance from all parties and "does not have any veto over any name." He noted that he will make a media appearance next week to discuss his position on the presidential file.
In response to a question about Syria's return to the Arab League, Jumblatt replied: "It means nice 'Arab invention,' but Syria returned, so the 'regime is fine.'" Regarding the Syrian displacement issue, the Socialist Party leader asserted the need for a central authority due to its sensitivity, stating, "I understood from the Prime Minister that the authority would be the government, with the agency assigned to it being the General Security," emphasizing the necessity of having a single reference to handle this matter to avoid competition, distinguishing between those forcibly displaced and those who have resided for decades who come and go to Syria, yet depend on the Lebanese economy even in this severe crisis.
Jumblatt also addressed the municipal elections, stressing that if the Constitutional Council issues its decision later, the municipal elections are very important to open opportunities for new blood to enter these elections. He added, "I cannot take a position without consulting with Democratic Gathering leader Taymour Jumblatt, as the future belongs to him, not me."
