Beirut Advances to the Doha Championship Semifinals

Beirut's team narrowly escaped a "trap" set by the Dijla team and secured their second victory in the Doha International Basketball Championship with a 19-point margin (98-79). The quarters were (14-22, 34-35, 58-59), with Dijla being the stronger side in the first three quarters of the match. However, Beirut rallied in the final quarter, led by American Tony Mitchell, and won the game, advancing to the semifinals.

Dijla started the match well and without pressure after losing hopes of qualification. The players sought to prove their abilities, managing to lead (22-14) at the end of the first quarter. American Jeremiah Wilson, who did not play in the previous two matches, joined the team and made a significant impact, surprising Beirut's coach Joe Ghattas. The Iraqi team maintained their lead but by only a single point (35-34) at halftime.

Both teams added 24 points in the third "offensive" quarter, keeping the lead for the Iraqi team by one point (59-58). However, Tony Mitchell unleashed his full potential in the final quarter, scoring 24 points by himself, leading the Lebanese team to finish the match at 98-79. They are now waiting for the last group match between Al-Hikmah and the Moroccan team Al-Fath to determine their position.

Mitchell ended the game with 37 points and 10 rebounds, while Sergio Aldrouh added 23 points with 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Julian Gamble contributed 10 points and 6 rebounds. From the Iraqi team, Jeremiah Wilson scored 27 points with 13 rebounds, Alfonso Roy added 22 points with 4 rebounds and the same number of assists, and Nawas Darar scored 15 points.
