French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna stated today, Friday, that "France is committed to dialogue with China," emphasizing the importance of their relationship, after a European Union investigation, supported by Paris, regarding Chinese-made electric vehicles sparked outrage in Beijing. Colonna told Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang: "We are committed to dialogue with China," adding that she was "happy" to meet him after their meeting in Paris in June. Colonna further mentioned, "We are working with China to find solutions to challenges related to climate change, biodiversity, and debt, as well as to enhance and rebalance our economic relations." Colonna's visit to Beijing focused on strengthening the relationship between the peoples, such as student exchanges and tourism. There are concerns that trade issues may overshadow the visit following the strongly criticized investigation into electric vehicles by Beijing.
