The Grand Mufti of the Lebanese Republic and President of the Higher Islamic Sharia Council, Sheikh Abdul Latif Daryan, issued decision number 83M/2023, appointing eight members to the Sharia Council in accordance with the provisions of Legislative Decree No. 18/1955, particularly paragraph (c) of Article 42. The appointees are: Sheikh Mohammed Ahmad Asaf, President of the Higher Sunni Sharia Court; Sheikh Mohammed Mohammed Tariq Imam, Mufti of Tripoli; Sheikh Zaid Mohammed Bakar Zakaria, Mufti of Akkar; lawyer Mohammed Khaled Al-Murad; Judge Iyad Mahmoud Bardaan; Dr. Mahmoud Shahhadi Samili; lawyer Ahmad Radwan Wahbeh; and Professor Kamil Ibrahim Damiati.
