Sudan: Violent Clashes and Reports of Suicides

Violent clashes have renewed today between the Sudanese Army and the Rapid Support Forces in the neighborhoods of Al-Lamab, Al-Nuzha, Al-‘Ashra, and Jabra, south of the capital Khartoum. According to eyewitnesses, both sides used all types of heavy weapons during the confrontations, and Sudanese military aircraft were seen flying over southern Khartoum. Military sources indicated that the Sudanese armed forces have reached areas surrounding the General Command and Khartoum International Airport and have deployed military forces there. Reports have surfaced of the assassination of a Central Committee member of Freedom and Change, Mohamed Abdullah, along with a relief worker after they were kidnapped in Nyala. Health-related information indicates a rise in suicide cases due to a shortage of medications and incidents of intimidation and rape in various regions of Sudan.
