The Information Branch of the Internal Security Forces received reports and complaints from citizens about an unknown individual breaking car windows and stealing their belongings inside, particularly in the governorates of Beirut and Mount Lebanon.
In response, the branch intensified its field and intelligence efforts to identify the perpetrator. As a result of extensive investigations and inquiries, they managed to identify him as A. R. (born in 1971, Lebanese), who has a criminal record for ordinary theft, theft from inside cars, drug-related crimes, and pickpocketing. Since 2003, his file has been filled with incidents of theft from inside cars. The Information Branch arrested him on April 18, 2022, for the same crime after he carried out more than 30 thefts.
On June 10, 2023, following careful surveillance, one of the branch's patrols spotted him in the Dora area and arrested him.
During the investigation, he confessed that after his release from prison on May 11, 2023, he carried out more than 16 thefts from parked cars in less than a month after breaking their windows, claiming that he primarily stole laptops and sold them in the Shatila camp.
Legal action was taken against him, and he was handed over along with the confiscated items to the relevant authority based on the judicial directive.
