Retired Teachers Protest in Front of the Ministry of Education: We Reject the Proposal from Catholic Schools

Retired teachers staged a protest in front of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, coinciding with a meeting called by Minister Abbas Halabi to address the salary crisis for retired teachers in the private sector. A delegation from the protesters explained to Minister Halabi the struggles faced by retired teachers and voiced their concerns about their situation, asking him, "Why did the caretaker government return the law for financial assistance worth 650 billion to the Compensation Fund back to Parliament? Why haven't you published it? At least this law would have secured us salary increases sufficient for a year until alternative agreements are made with educational institutions." They firmly rejected "the proposal from Catholic schools to establish funds within schools to pay salary increases," and demanded "an urgent mechanism to receive these increases through the Compensation Fund, equal to their colleagues in public education."
