Ronaldo Completely Closes Doors in Saudi Arabia for Exiled Manchester United Player

Former Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood currently has limited options to resume his career following a forced break due to recent court allegations against him. Greenwood fears that he cannot join any team in Saudi Arabia because of Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo. The 21-year-old is looking for a new team after Manchester decided to terminate his contract due to the absolute refusal of his return to the Red Devils, despite all charges against him for assaulting his girlfriend and attempting to rape her being dropped.

The Sun reported that Greenwood's presence in English Premier League teams has become unacceptable, leading to the Saudi Pro League emerging as a potential destination to salvage his career due to the notable boom the league is experiencing. However, this path seems closed as well because of Ronaldo, the current star of Al Nassr, as Greenwood had previously stated that the Portuguese's career “died” in reference to the decline of the 38-year-old's situation, despite him having won multiple titles at that time with Real Madrid.

Greenwood’s comments emerged in March, three months after the Portuguese star's transfer to Al Nassr for two years in a deal valued at £350 million. According to the newspaper, Ronaldo was angered by Greenwood's comments and urged league officials not to consider signing his former Manchester United teammate. A source told The Sun: "Ronaldo was right to be angry, given the unequal comparison between his status and Greenwood's, who was significantly upset by United's signing of the Portuguese star since it reduced his playing minutes with the team, straining their relationship."

Ronaldo currently has significant influence in Saudi Arabia, and a source from The Sun confirmed that he is treated with the highest regard there and that his requests are fulfilled, thus "he has enough influence to convince clubs not to pursue Greenwood if he desires that." It is worth noting that Greenwood was recently linked with a move to Al-Ettifaq, but coach Steven Gerrard ruled out that possibility.
