The Army Command announced that "as a result of the security measures taken by army units across various Lebanese regions during December 2023, 435 individuals of different nationalities were arrested for involvement in multiple crimes and offenses, including drug trafficking, theft, smuggling, possession of weapons and prohibited items, and roaming within Lebanese territories without legal residency. They were also arrested for driving cars and motorcycles without legal papers, in addition to foiling a number of illegal human smuggling operations."
It noted that "the seized items included 39 military weapons of various types, a hand grenade, quantities of light and medium ammunition, several vehicles and motorcycles, as well as a quantity of drugs and other materials intended for smuggling, along with some communication devices." The arrested individuals and the seized items have been handed over to the relevant authorities for necessary action.
