Former Prime Minister Hassan Diab, currently outside Lebanon, stated in a statement that "this is not the time to weep over ruins or to write embellished phrases in solidarity with Gaza against the Zionist aggression." He emphasized that "the time today is for action, for steps that transcend slogans which, had they been translated into reality over the past 75 years, would not have led the Arab nation to such a dire level of complacency and surrender, turning its back on the massacre in Gaza being carried out by the Israeli enemy with peculiar international support and dubious Arab silence."
He mentioned that "the massacre in Gaza is happening live, and the enemy is targeting journalists in Palestine, where martyrs and the injured have fallen, and in Lebanon, where Issam Abdullah was martyred and others were wounded, aiming to prevent them from conveying the truth, while the world watches and applauds the Israeli war machine, even sending it ammunition to kill children, women, the elderly, and all forms of life in Gaza."
He asked: "And after. Where is the Arab nation? The Prime Minister of the occupation announced that his war on Gaza will change the face of the Middle East. Do Arabs know that Netanyahu wants to change the face of the Arab world? He wants to change our identity, culture, and civilization, and seeks to erase our role and existence?"
He added: "What is happening in Gaza today is just the beginning. If the enemy achieves its goal of throwing Gaza into the sea, as it has always dreamed, the next phase will gradually extend to the entire Arab world, contrary to what some believe that the enemy's plan will stop after Lebanon. The goal is clear: 'From the Euphrates to the Nile'."
He called on "the sincere Arab leaderships for their nation, people, religion, and history, to take a firm stand against the aggression and to defend themselves in Gaza before being forced to defend themselves elsewhere." Diab concluded by affirming that "the reliance on Arab awareness is strengthened by the fact that the Palestinian cause remains in the consciousness of the nation and has not been forgotten over time, just as all massacres have failed to dishearten the Arab people who await the liberation of Palestine from the Zionist occupation."
