Thirteen people were arrested in Paris, including seven linked to the far-right, on Saturday night for drawing swastikas in the capital, according to a police source cited by AFP. They were caught in the act in the 17th arrondissement of Paris. These arrests come amid a sharp increase in antisemitic acts in France since the beginning of the war between Israel and Hamas. More than 1,500 antisemitic acts have been recorded since October 7, according to the latest figures released by authorities. Jonathan Arfi, president of the Representative Council of Jewish Institutions in France, stated on November 19 that this represents "the equivalent of three times what was recorded in 2022."
