Minister of Interior and Municipalities in the caretaker government, Bassam Molawi, continued his official visit to Cairo for a second day, where he met with his Egyptian counterpart, Mahmoud Tawfiq, at the Egyptian Ministry of Interior. During the meeting, both sides reviewed ways to enhance cooperation between the two ministries and discussed the latest updates on security issues of mutual interest.
Minister Molawi expressed his appreciation for the Egyptian Ministry of Interior's agencies, explaining that his visit falls within the framework of the close relations between the two countries. He emphasized Lebanon's interest in exchanging expertise with the Egyptian security agencies in various fields of security work and expressed his desire to enhance communication channels between the two sides in light of the security challenges posed by current regional and international conditions.
For his part, the Egyptian Minister of Interior welcomed Minister Molawi's visit to Cairo, affirming the Ministry's commitment to fostering communication with the security agencies of the brotherly country of Lebanon, given the historical relations between the two countries. He noted the importance of strengthening cooperation mechanisms and exchanging expertise in areas of mutual security interest, stressing the need for joint efforts to contain and undermine all negative phenomena resulting from terrorism and organized crime in all its forms amid the changes and developments in the regional and international arenas. Minister Molawi also visited the Police Academy in Cairo, where he met with the Assistant Minister of Interior and head of the Police Academy, Major General Hany Abu Al-Makarem, and was briefed on the training courses being conducted for the personnel and officers.
