Messi's Injury and the Copa America

Inter Miami coach Gerardo Martino announced that his team will wait until the "last moment" to see if Argentine star Lionel Messi is ready to play in the Copa America final tomorrow, Wednesday, against Houston Dynamo. Messi was substituted in Inter's MLS match against Toronto before halftime due to an unspecified injury and missed last Sunday’s game against rivals Orlando City. There are doubts about the Argentina captain's participation in the Copa America final as his team aims to claim their second title after winning the MLS-Mexico Cup last month. Martino stated in a press conference today, "We will wait for Leo until tomorrow. Until the last moment. I will sit down with him to assess his condition. We might come to an agreement tomorrow. There are three parties involved—the player, the final, and what comes after. We need to try to make a decision. There are always risks. But we have to minimize them." Messi, a seven-time Ballon d'Or winner, has scored 11 goals and provided five assists in 12 matches with Inter Miami since his arrival from Paris Saint-Germain.
