The head of the Phalange Party, MP Samy Jemmayel, wrote on "X": "Some friends in Lebanon and abroad are wondering why no president has been elected in Lebanon and why all initiatives aimed at that have failed until now." He added: "The answer is clear; first, because Hezbollah has undermined the principle of electing a president with all constitutional mechanisms and deadlines by disrupting the quorum and President Berri's refusal to call for open election sessions unless he is guaranteed the election of his presidential candidate." Jemmayel continued, "Secondly, because when the election of a president is meant to be consensual and the alignment is sharp, a compromise is sought. Everyone accepted the compromise except Hezbollah, which insists on imposing its will and does not accept consensus unless it is on its candidate. For all these reasons, all initiatives fail." He continued, "Let’s assume that the presidential crisis is resolved; we would then enter into a crisis of appointing a prime minister, and then we would wait months for Hezbollah to impose its governmental formation." Jemmayel concluded: "It is time to make our friends understand that Lebanon is hostage, and any救援 initiative must begin with the restoration of the state's sovereignty and the Lebanese people's free decision."
