The British maritime security firm "Ambrey" announced in a consulting memo today, Friday, that the container ship MS. C. Balaton 3, owned by a Swiss company and flying the Liberian flag, was targeted while moving north approximately 22 nautical miles southwest of Al-Mokha port in Yemen. Ambrey added that "the ship continued sailing north and changed its course 180 degrees after about 30 minutes to head south towards the Bab el-Mandeb Strait." The ship was heading to the Saudi port of Jeddah, and Ambrey stated in its assessment that "it is likely that the container ship received a warning from the Yemeni Houthis not to pass through the Red Sea."
