Gunfire was heavily fired into the air during the funeral of the late Fadi Bujani. This marks the second time that gunfire has been witnessed during Bujani's funeral ceremonies, as shots were fired earlier in the day when his body arrived at St. Anthony's Church in Khaldeh.
During the ceremonies, the Maronite Archbishop of Beirut, Bishop Paul Abdelsatar, noted that "what happened in Khaldeh is a national tragedy that should never be repeated for any reason, and we have had enough of death and sorrow. We call on all officials to intensify efforts to achieve security and urge them to take preventive measures that prevent resorting to violence and prevent conflict among the members of the same nation."
He called on officials to activate "the judiciary to ensure that every right reaches its rightful owner and not through killing and hatred," stating, "Seduction of discord awaits us; our people are exhausted, and war is an uncontrollable evil that cannot be contained. We urge everyone to exercise restraint and think of Lebanon first and ask every leader and official to work diligently to prevent sectarian tensions from all sides to eschew lingering grudges."
