Lebanese Ministry of Health Condemns Attack on Mays al-Jabal Hospital

The Lebanese Ministry of Public Health expressed its "condemnation and denunciation of the targeting of Mays al-Jabal Hospital in southern Lebanon, which resulted in injuries to a healthcare worker and damage to the emergency department." It affirmed that "targeting healthcare facilities and workers constitutes a serious violation of international humanitarian law, putting the lives of innocent individuals and patients at risk." The ministry held "Israeli authorities fully responsible for this unwarranted act, which could have led to catastrophic results had the artillery shell that targeted the hospital exploded."

The Ministry of Health called on the "international community, United Nations institutions, and the International Committee of the Red Cross to fulfill their duties in ensuring the protection of medical facilities and their staff, and to guarantee that such aggressive acts do not recur." It also demanded "a comprehensive and fair investigation to hold those responsible for these crimes accountable." The statement concluded: "Protecting public health and safety is one of the highest humanitarian duties and must be prioritized over any political or military considerations."
