Warning for Diabetic Patients: Avoid Raisins and Dates

A Russian nutrition expert has advised individuals with diabetes to avoid two types of foods: dates and raisins. Doctor Irina Bessariva stated that both dates and raisins have a high glycemic index, meaning that their consumption rapidly increases blood glucose levels, posing a danger to those with diabetes. She also recommends that individuals with gastrointestinal issues and diseases exclude these two products from their diet, as reported by NEWS.ru. Additionally, she advised against purchasing unpackaged dried fruits, as it is unknown how long they have been dried and stored, which could lead to the presence of microbes that may disrupt intestinal function, cause poisoning, or lead to allergic reactions. However, she pointed out that dried fruits are an important source of vitamins and essential minerals for the body, as they retain a high percentage of the beneficial properties of fresh fruits without undergoing heat treatment.
