Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani announced today, Monday, that a woman with dual Italian and Israeli citizenship has died after being among the missing following the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7. Tajani wrote on the social media platform "X" that the body of Lilac Luhafron was found a few days ago. He added, "I extend my condolences to her children and family. This is another day of mourning for Italy."
Rome confirmed on October 17 the death of her husband, Evyatar Moshe Kipnis, who had also been missing since the Hamas attack. The couple lived in the Be'eri residential community located five kilometers from Gaza, which was one of the first areas targeted by Hamas. It is believed that Hamas holds a third Italian-Israeli citizen who is still missing. Tajani mentioned on Sunday that seven or eight Italians, along with their families, are in southern Gaza and are trying to leave the enclave.
