The US State Department indicated today, Tuesday, that "the United States is working with UN Security Council member states to resolve outstanding issues related to a draft resolution calling for Israel and Hamas to allow aid to enter the Gaza Strip and to establish a UN monitoring mechanism for humanitarian assistance provided."
In a press conference, State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller stated that Washington would welcome a resolution that fully supports meeting the humanitarian needs of the people in Gaza but that the details of the text are important. Miller noted that "the United States would welcome China's constructive role in efforts to prevent Iranian-aligned Houthi attacks on international maritime trade."
He added: "US Secretary of State Antony Blinken recently informed China's chief diplomat Wang Yi in a phone call that the attacks harm the interests of all countries, including the US and China."
