Acting Prime Minister Najib Mikati announced the necessity to elect a president for the republic as soon as possible, followed by the formation of a new government to implement the required reforms and address the economic and social difficulties facing Lebanon. After Mikati's visit to Patriarch of Antioch and all the East of the Melkite Catholics, Joseph Al-Absi, today, he stated that "the current way out is for constitutional institutions to fully perform their work."
Mikati and Al-Absi discussed the current situation in the country and the challenges it faces, particularly the social concerns. For his part, Al-Absi emphasized that "coexistence requires mutual sacrifice," affirming that "communication and dialogue are the foundation for saving Lebanon." The meeting was attended by Minister of Youth and Sports George Kallas and the Bishop of Tripoli, Edward Daher.
