Tomiko Itoka, aged 115, has become the oldest living person in Japan. The Japanese Ministry of National Affairs announced that "Tomiko Itoka has become the oldest living woman in Japan." Tomiko Itoka resides in Hyogo Prefecture. She was born on May 23, 1908, during the reign of Emperor Meiji, who was the great-grandfather of the current Japanese emperor. Yesterday, the 116-year-old Japanese woman Fusa Tatsumi, who was considered the oldest living citizen in Japan, passed away, following the death of a 119-year-old woman last year in Fukuoka Prefecture.
