Arrest of a Syrian in Lebanon Working for Israel

The Lebanese Army Intelligence Directorate managed to arrest (A. Othman), a Syrian national born in 1992 in Beit Jann, after a monitoring and tracking operation. A security source mentioned to the newspaper "Nidaa al-Watan" that (A. Othman) was arrested on June 7, 2023, for belonging to an armed group in Syria and for receiving treatment after being injured in 2014 at a hospital in the occupied Palestinian territories. He was also involved in transporting wounded members of his group to the Syrian-Palestinian border and handing them over to the enemy's army, which would take them to its hospitals. Additionally, he formed, along with others in Syria, a network that worked for the Israeli enemy by gathering information and pinpointing military forces' locations, and he had recently entered Lebanon illegally and was roaming the country unlawfully.

The source noted that a number of Syrians were in contact with individuals in other Syrian provinces to obtain security information. His handler was uploading all the information collected and sending it to Israeli intelligence through an Israeli line. The source clarified that the detainee admitted that he was receiving weekly amounts ranging between 25 and 50 dollars from his handler in exchange for his activities, claiming that he worked for the enemy for a year or more and stopped his activities after his handler was killed.
