The Permanent Mission of Lebanon to the United Nations and international organizations sent two official letters to both the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, and the Special Rapporteur on the protection of the right to freedom of opinion and expression, Irene Khan, concerning the martyrdom of Lebanese journalist Issam Abdullah and the injury of other journalists in Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon. The correspondence highlights the circumstances of this crime and its violation of human rights, particularly the right to freedom of opinion and expression, and calls on the senior officials to shed light on it internationally and work towards holding the perpetrators accountable.
