American actor Dwayne Johnson, known as The Rock, announced on Twitter his return to play the role of Luke Hobbs in an unnamed upcoming film from the Fast & Furious series, following his departure from the successful franchise in 2021 due to disputes with star Vin Diesel. Johnson shared in a video message from Hawaii, wearing a flower lei, "Hobbs is back in the Fast & Furious franchise." He added, "The next Fast & Furious film you’ll see the legendary lawman will be the Hobbs film, which will mark an exciting new chapter and set the stage for Fast X: Part Two."
The franchise has grossed over seven billion dollars at the global box office, making it the fifth highest-grossing series of all time. Johnson mentioned he has resolved issues with Diesel. He stated in his post, "Last summer, Vin and I put the past behind us. We’ll move forward with brotherhood and determination, and I will always take care of the franchise and the characters and the fans we love." The star of Moana emphasized that he has a "fans first mentality" when it comes to his career and sent his love to the entire Fast family.
