ABC News quoted a security source familiar with the case stating that the deadly incident is being investigated as a potential act of terrorism. Rochester Police Chief David Smith stated, "Two people were killed and five others injured after a Ford Expedition collided with a Mitsubishi Outlander while exiting a parking lot near the Kodak Center in Rochester." Smith added, "The collision occurred around 12:50 AM on Monday near a pedestrian walkway, as attendees of an entertainment event were leaving the venue, resulting in injuries to a group of pedestrians," noting that "a large fire broke out following the incident, taking nearly an hour to extinguish." He continued, "Security forces found at least a dozen gasoline containers inside and around the Ford Expedition once the fire was extinguished." The security source mentioned, "The investigation is being conducted by a joint terrorism task force."
