On Thursday, the Iranian news agency "Tasnim" quoted the commander of the Revolutionary Guards stating, "The reports of gunfire in the city of Kerman are not true." While some media had claimed to have heard gunfire in Kerman, investigations by Tasnim journalists in Kerman indicated that this claim is incorrect and that complete security is maintained throughout the city. Official Iranian media had reported that "there are reports of gunfire in the city of Kerman in the southeast of the country," following two explosions that resulted in the deaths of nearly 100 people at a memorial event for the prominent Iranian commander Qassem Soleimani, who was killed in a U.S. drone strike in Iraq in 2020.
