The German Foreign Ministry warned its citizens today, Wednesday, against traveling to Lebanon and urged Germans currently in Lebanon to leave. A statement on the ministry's website said, "The escalation of the situation and the widening scope of the conflict cannot be ruled out, especially after the killing of Hamas's Deputy Political Bureau Chief Saleh al-Arouri in Beirut on January 2." It specified that the warning particularly applies to the southern areas of Lebanon, including the southern suburbs of the capital, Beirut.
